Houston upsets No. 15/18 Ole Miss
The Houston Cougars scored early and often in a 6-0 win against Ole Miss. The Rebels were coming off an 8-2 win over Texas on Thursday night and couldn’t find a hole on Friday.
Houston’s offense regrouped after a 1-0 loss to Oregon and came out swinging, finishing with 15 hits. Redshirt junior Sarah Barker highlighted the UH offense going 4-for-4 with a double and a walk. Five different players collected RBIs and seven players had hits.
Trystan Melancon pitched six innings allowing three hits and two walks in the win. Savannah Heebner pitched one inning in relief and allowed two hits.
The Ducks recorded their seventh run rule in nine games beating Rutgers 10-0 and Texas 8-0. Maggie Balint and Miranda Elish earned a win each on Friday.
DJ Sanders hit two home runs on the day, taking the team lead with six. Alexis Mack extended her hitting streak to 15 games dating back to last season. Jenna Lilley had a day as she went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs. Lilley also became Oregon’s new RBI leader in the process with 16.
