On Wednesday, 30 Canadian athletes arrived in Fort Myers, Fla., to compete for a spot on the 2018 Canadian National Team roster. The highlight of Team Canada’s summer will be the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship that takes place in Chiba, Japan.

Oregon State commit and shortstop, Grace Messmer, is hoping to impress Team Canada coaches in Florida.

The selection camp concludes on Tuesday and following that, the coaching staff will select a group of athletes to take to various events including the World Cup of Softball in Irvine, CA. And the Canada Cup in Surrey, B.C.

Team Canada took home bronze medals at the World Cup of Softball in 2017 and at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

According to the WBSC World Rankings that came out in December, Canada is ranked No. 3 for 2018.
