USA Softball Junior Men’s National Training Team Announced

Twenty athletes were selected to represent the United State as a member of the 2018 USA Softball Junior Men’s National Training Team on Friday, Jan. 5.

“I’m excited about the passion and desire these you men have,” said Head Coach Ty McKinney. “Following training camp, we will have a few more opportunittes to get together and work on some fundamentals such as pitching, hitting and defensive plays to prepare for the World Championship in Canada.”

Selected by members of the Men’s National Team Selection Committee, the 20 athletes will compete in select tournaments and invitational events before the final 17 players will compete at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Men’s World Championship.

Returning this summer will be veteran member Jeff Lewis (Winston, MO.) who was a member of the 2016 team that placed fifth at the WBSC JMWC in Midland, Mich.

Joining McKinney (Ashland, Ohio) are Tony Aresco (Stoneham, Mass.), Mike Armitage (Normal, Ill.) and Bob Piddock (Castro Valley, Calif.) who serve as Assistant Coaches in 2018.
